Event Description
This 3-day workshop will reinforce the following areas: composition, drawing, color theory and value. The class will feature demonstrations, critiques and individual mentoring.
First day will be in the studio with a demonstration and will focus on the basics of painting principals and simplification to prepare you for the following 2 days of plein air painting. There will be demos each day followed by personal painting time with plenty of one-on-one coaching. Easel, paint and canvases will be furnished, and lunch will be provided. Class size is limited to 12 participants.
Instructors: Mary Ann Davis, an award-winning Plein Air artist and instructor, assisted by David Broerman, founder of NIPAA.
When: May 28, 29 & 30th from 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
Where: Lake Wawasee and Syracuse Lake.COST: $300 for three days.
Mary Ann Davis enjoys the challenge of painting on location and has a reputation as one of Indiana’s premier Plein Air (outdoor) painters. Her paintings celebrate nature, emphasizing color and atmosphere. Her works have been included in Plein Air Magazine, American Art Review, Pastel Journal and Southwest Art magazines and two Painting Indiana books.
She exhibits widely, winning top awards. Mary Ann’s willingness to share her knowledge has earned her a reputation as an outstanding artist and instructor.
Her work can be seen at the Indiana Artisan Gallery in Carmel and the Brown County Art Guild in Nashville, Indiana.
Mary Ann has achieved the prestigious distinction of being an Indiana Artisan. She is also a signature member of the American Impressionist Society, MidAmerica Pastel Society, Plein Air Artists Colorado and the Chicago Pastel Painters.
